Read the text below and look carefully at each line. Some of the lines are correct, and some have a word which should not be there.
If the line is correct, put a tick at the end of the line. If a line has a word which should not be there, write the extra word at the end of the line. There are two examples at the beginning (0 and 00)
to read the text quickly first before you start looking for words. (Time limit – 12-13 minutes)

It was a lovely Spanish summer day when Angeles and I
correct
00
decided to go to Madrid. We packed in our bags
01
and took a taxi to the station where we have just managed to
02
catch the eleven o’clock train. We settled down in our seats
03
and took out our books to get read them, but we soon
04
both began to feel a little sleepy and fell asleep.
05
A few of hours later a guard on the train woke us up.
06
We had to get off because the line was being blocked
07
because of floods. The guard said that a bus would take us
08
the rest of the whole way. I gave the bags to Angeles who
09
struggled to the bus which soon set it off. Unfortunately, the bus broke
10
right down after only an hour and we had to wait for a mechanic
11
for more than the two hours. Finally, we were able to continue our
12
journey and we arrived in Madrid later than we had been expected,
13
but all the rain had stopped and the sun was shining. Tired, but
14
optimistic, we went straight into a bar and had a strong coffee
15
and a double brandy each. Things could only get better!
